Steelers placed TE Donald Parham Jr. on injured reserve with an Achilles injury.
The move ends Parham’s 2025 season. Parham’s regular season snap occurred in 2023, when he caught 27-of-40 targets for 285 yards and four touchdowns. He turns 28 in August and is scheduled to hit free agency at the end of this year.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Saints head coach Kellen Moore explained away “trade chatter” regarding Chris Olave by saying, “people want good players.”
Moore offered lengthy and jumbled commentary on the matter, but ultimately said that “people want good players, so they’re always chasing, to find ways to get good players on their team.” Moore also downplayed concerns over Olave’s concussion history, saying he feels “great” about Olave’s health and future with the team. Olave is currently being drafted as a back-end WR3 in PPR formats and can return significantly higher value if he is able to maintain good health.
Paul Goldschmidt is not in the Yankees’ starting lineup for Thursday’s soiree against the Guardians.
It looks like nothing more than a routine night off for the 37-year-old first baseman. Ben Rice will start in his place at first base and bat second for the Bombers against Slade Cecconi and the Guardians on Thursday evening in New York.
Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the Braves plan to promote veteran right-hander Craig Kimbrel from Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday.
That comes after the Braves’ bullpen imploded and squandered a six-run lead in the ninth inning against the Diamondbacks on Thursday afternoon. Kimbrel, who had 440 big league saves to his name, has registered a 2.00 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and a 23/9 K/BB ratio over 18 innings in the minor leagues this season. He’ll give manager Brian Snitker another option to deploy in the late innings. Kimbrel hasn’t appeared in a big league game with the Braves since the end of the 2014 season.
Kyle Manzardo is absent from the Guardians’ starting lineup for Thrusday night’s showdown against the Yankees.
With David Fry back in the fold, he’s the one starting as the designated hitter against left-hander Max Fried on Thursday evening, which leaves only one spot for Manzardo and Carlos Santana. It’s Santana starting at first base and batting fifth for the Guardians with Manzardo getting a night off. On the season, he’s slashing a meager .211/.300/.443 with 11 homers and 29 RBI.
Spencer Horwitz is not in the Pirates’ starting lineup for Thursday’s battle against the Astros.
The 27-year-old first baseman will get a rare day off with left-hander Framber Valdez toeing the slab for the Astros. Horwitz is off to a slow start since returning from the injured list, slashing just .230/.299/.328 with one homer, five RBI and a 15/6 K/BB ratio across 67 plate appearances. Jared Triolo will start in his place at first base and will bat eighth for the Pirates on Thursday evening in Pittsburgh.
