Robert Woods was not targeted in the Texans’ Divisional Round loss to the Chiefs.
Woods was held off the stat sheet as Xavier Hutchinson drew six looks and John Metchie saw two. Although Woods’ hip injury was undoubtedly a factor, it’s not a great sign for the 32-year-old as he heads to the open market. Limited to 60 catches in two years in Houston, Woods could struggle to find guaranteed money in free agency. Someone would have to really like his leadership ability.
Robert Woods (hip) did not practice Wednesday.
Woods was spotted at practice by reporters earlier in the day. The DNP designation means whatever work he did was not enough to be considered a limited session. It also puts his Divisional Round status in doubt. With Diontae Johnson cut and Woods banged up, expect to see plenty of John Metchie as the Texans’ No. 2 receiver versus Kansas City.
Robert Woods (hip) returned to practice Wednesday.
Woods missed the first practice of the week with a hip issue but was back on the field today. For a veteran wideout, a day off is nothing out of the normal this late in the season. With Diontae Johnson out of the picture, Woods will likely function as Houston’s WR3 in the Divisional Round.
Robert Woods (hip) did not practice on Tuesday.
With the Texans cutting loose Diontae Johnson earlier today, we could see a condensed target tree for the Texans going forward. Woods probably isn’t in any real danger of missing the Divisional Round, but dealing with a hip injury is a boost for the odds of John Metchie and Xavier Hutchinson seeing expanded roles for sicko DFS purposes. Woods played 51 percent of the snaps against the Chargers last week and saw four targets.
