According to Marc J. Spears of ESPN, Andre Iguodala is retiring after a 19-season career.
Iggy was a one-time All-Star selection when he was with the 76ers, a three-time All-NBA Defensive Team selection and came away with four rings and a 2015 Finals MVP. The long-time vet said he is ready to spend more time with his family and he reportedly turned down offers from the Warriors and other teams before making his decision.
Golden State’s general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. doesn’t expect Andre Iguodala to return to the team next season.
When it looked like Iguodala was ready to retire last summer, Golden State actively recruited him to return for one more season. Dunleavy has made it clear that they would welcome him back, but they haven’t been in constant communication with him. If he doesn’t return, he’ll likely be retiring and calling it a career after two decades in the NBA.
The Warriors announced Saturday that Andre Iguodala (left wrist surgery) has been cleared to ramp up his workouts.
Iguodala underwent surgery in late March and has not appeared in a game since. While he has been cleared to ramp up his individual workouts, clearance to rejoin his teammates for practices is not expected to come until sometime next week. Until then, there's no need for DFS players to anticipate Iguodala's return. He can give the team valuable experience and defensive versatility off the bench if the Warriors are still alive in the postseason.
Andre Iguodala (left wrist surgery) will be re-evaluated in two weeks.
Iguodala has been out for over a month, and he'll remain out for at least this series with the Kings. That means there's a chance that his season is over. When he comes back, he won't do much more than play a handful of rotational minutes and be a veteran presence.
