2025 Player Outlook
The real question when it comes to Royce Lewis is how high would he go in drafts if you were guaranteed a full season's workload? He's been limited to 58 and 82 games respectively in the last two seasons, but when he's been on the field, the fantasy production has been quite noteworthy. In 2023, he hit 15 home runs with six stolen bases and a .309 average, and in 2024, while he hit just .233, he had 32 XBH in 325 plate appearances. His average exit velocity dipped last season, but the barrel rate remained strong, and he's a tough guy to pitch to, as he posted a .495 SLG against breaking pitches last year, and he hit fastballs at a .343 clip in 2023. A lengthier trip to the IL isn't quite baked into the price, but as long as he can avoid a lengthy stay on the injured list, Lewis could flirt with 30 home runs and a .260 average in 2025. High risk, high reward pick.

Royce Lewis is DHing and batting fifth in his 2025 debut Tuesday against the Orioles.
The Twins have Brooks Lee at second and Jonah Bride at third with Willi Castro in the outfield and Trevor Larnach on the bench against a lefty tonight. Lee figures to remain in the lineup most of the time with Lewis back. Bride should only start against lefties. Lewis played third base on his rehab assignment, and we’re guessing he’ll get a start there tomorrow.

Ready or not, Lewis is back after going 4-for-23 with a double and a 6/0 K/BB in six games for Triple-A St. Paul. He’ll likely split time between third base and DH. Brooks Lee figures to play third when Lewis is DHing and second when Willi Castro is at one of his other positions.

Lewis will play 10 innings as the team’s designated hitter during a doubleheader for Triple-A St. Paul on Tuesday and then play a full game at third base on Wednesday, assuming Tuesday goes well. Even though that could mean Lewis returns this weekend, The Athletic’s Dan Hayes suggests “it’s likelier Lewis will play several more games over the weekend and return when the Twins open a homestand on May 6.”

Lewis also played six innings defensively at third base, as was planned. He’ll remain on the rehab assignment at least through the weekend before the Twins decide how best to proceed. It’s looking like he could be ready to join the big league club before the end of next week, which would be a major boost for the Twins’ offense and for fantasy managers.
