The move is now official. Arraez remains in concussion protocol following a scary-looking collision with Astros infielder Mauricio Dubón during Sunday night’s contest at Daikin Park. There should be some clarity on the 28-year-old infielder’s status at some point in the coming days, but fantasy managers should anticipate him missing at least one week for now. The Padres have called up light-hitting infielder Mason McCoy to take his spot on the active roster.

No word yet on his roster replacement, but Luis Campusano has been crushing baseballs in Triple-A and could be called up to help out at DH, leaving Gavin Sheets and Yuli Gurriel to platoon at first base.

He’ll stay in Houston overnight and as long as he’s feeling alright he’ll join the Padres in Detroit on Monday. Arraez was in good spirits, smiling and talking with teammates and reporters on Sunday night and it sounds like he was extremely fortunate to have avoided any significant injuries in his scary collision with Mauricio Dubon.
