On a night where Eugenio Suarez hit four homers, Murphy did his own damage with a solo blast off Merrill Kelly in the second inning. That would wind up being the veteran backstop’s only hit in four at-bats on the evening. Murphy has provided solid power production since returning from the injured list, slashing .209/.320/.628 with six homers and 12 RBI through his first 12 games.

Murphy has been on an absolute tear, going deep four times in just six contests since returning from a season-opening stint on the injured list. The 30-year-old backstop hasn’t really made any changes besides wearing glasses for the first time in his career. It seems to be paying off since he’s posted a sky-high 1.203 OPS since making the switch.
