Kyle Wright (shoulder) threw two innings earlier this week in an extended spring training game in Arizona.
Strong early-season performances by Kris Bubic and Michael Lorenzen have reduced the urgency for Kansas City to get Wright back up to full speed quickly. Kyle Wright (shoulder) threw a live bullpen session without issue on Thursday.
The session was reportedly two innings with Wright stopping and starting again. He’s in the final stages of recovery from shoulder surgery and could be soon cleared to begin a minor league rehab assignment. Royals placed RHP Kyle Wright on the 15-day injured list.
Wright will require some additional time to ramp-up this spring in the final stages of his rehabilitation process from shoulder surgery. Kyle Wright (shoulder, hamstring) threw a live bullpen session Thursday.
It was the first time facing hitters for Wright as a member of the Royals, and it’s worth pointing out that he was acquired by Kansas City at the end of 2023. The 29-year-old missed last year with a capsule strain in his shoulder, and he also suffered a setback with a hamstring strain in February. Wright could be an option for the Royals in the late spring, but there’s no timetable for a return just yet.
