Cubs selected the contract of RHP Brad Keller from Triple-A Iowa.
Keller will be in Chicago’s season-opening bullpen after making the club as a non-roster invitee.
Cubs announced that Brad Keller has made the opening day bullpen
Keller has had a strong spring, posting a 3.86 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, and 13/2 K/BB ratio in 11 2/3 innings. He figures to serve as a multi-inning option out of the Cubs bullpen to start the year.
Multiple outlets report that the Cubs signed RHP Brad Keller to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.
Keller has bounced around organizations, but spent last year with Boston and was an up-and-down arm for the Red Sox for most of 2024. He’ll compete for a bullpen spot with Chicago, but more than likely opens the season in Triple-A Iowa without a fantasy-relevant role.
Red Sox RHP Brad Keller has elected free agency.
As expected, Keller has refused an outright assignment to Triple-A Worcester after passing through waivers unclaimed. The 29-year-old righty could wind up returning on a new deal with the Red Sox as extra organizational relief depth at some point in the coming days.
