Jesse Winker is not in the lineup for Thursday’s bout against the Cardinals.
Andre Pallante is typically better against lefties than righties, so rather than Winker at DH, the Mets will have Starling Marte as the designated hitter. This platoon should continue for the foreseeable future, and it’s not great for either from a fantasy standpoint.
Jesse Winker, who went 0-for-4 in his return from a mystery illness Monday, is back on the bench against a right-hander Tuesday.
Starling Marte is DHing versus Bailey Ober. Winker seemed to be off his game while striking out twice and popping out twice last night.
Back in the Mets lineup after five straight absences, Jesse Winker went 0-for-4 against the Twins on Monday.
The Mets kept quiet about any reason for sitting Winker while he was missing, but it turned out he was dealing with some sort of illness. He definitely had a rough game tonight, popping up twice and striking out in his other plate appearances, so it might be a few more days before he’s right.
Jesse Winker is not in the starting lineup for Saturday’s game against the Athletics.
Winker was expected to be the primary DH for the Mets this year, but a slow start to the campaign has seen him lose playing time to Starling Marte. Marte will again get the start as the designated hitter even with right-hander J.T. Ginn on the bump for the A’s.
