Is Story officially back? This was his first multi-home run game since May 19th, 2022 and gave him an .876 OPS on the season. The Red Sox steadily kept him hitting fifth for the first two weeks of the season, but have bumped him up to third and fourth in their last two games respectively. Story still struggles with his strikeout rate and will chase more than his share of pitches out of the strike zone. Yet, his power in this lineup and in that ballpark could produce some gaudy stats by year’s end.

He drove in all three of Boston’s runs. He also had the only extra-base hits by either team in the contest. The double down the right-field line in the sixth, which knocked in two runs, would have been a homer in 11 parks. Story is batting .308/.328/.477 with three homers and six steals in 17 games. He’s striking out too much to keep hitting for average, but he’s quite the fantasy asset while he’s stealing bases like this.

The Red Sox utilized a single and a pair of hit batsmen to load the bases with one out in the 10th inning and all Story needed to do was put the ball in play to drive in the winning run. Story also had a pair of singles and swiped two bases in the ballgame, finishing the afternoon 2-for-5. The 32-year-old infielder is off to a strong start to the 2025 season, slashing .264/.291/.396 with two homers, five RBI and four stolen bases.

It’s extremely encouraging to see Story return to Boston’s lineup after being scratched Friday with back tightness, which has been an ongoing issue throughout camp. It’s far-fetched to anticipate the 32-year-old veteran shortstop staying healthy for an entire season, but he figures to make an impact for fantasy managers as a power-speed combo source, if he can avoid major injury.
