Kyle Hendricks allowed five runs in four innings and took the loss against the Astros on Sunday.
Kyle Hendricks looked terrific in a tough-luck no-decision against the Rays on Tuesday night, scattering two hits and two walks over five innings of shutout baseball.
The soft-tossing right-hander struck out four batters on the evening. The biggest jam that he got into came when the Rays put two men on with one out in the second inning, and Hendricks induced a double play ground ball from Danny Jansen to end the threat. He got nine whiffs on 83 pitches on the night — all of them on his changeup — while registering a CSW of 24 percent. He’ll attempt to keep the good times rolling as he carries a minuscule 1.64 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and an 8/2 K/BB ratio into a tough matchup against the Astros in Houston on Sunday.
Kyle Hendricks pitched well in his Angels’ debut on Tuesday evening, allowing two runs on seven hits over six innings in a tough-luck no-decision against the Cardinals.
The 35-year-old right-hander struck out four and didn’t walk a batter on the night. He allowed an RBI single to Jordan Walker in the second inning and then a solo blast to Walker in the fourth, but that was the extent of the scoring done against him. He exited with a 3-2 lead and in line for a victory, but the Angels’ bullpen couldn’t hang on for him. Hendricks got 10 whiffs on 97 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 27 percent. He’ll look for more of the same when he squares off against the Rays in Tampa Bay on Tuesday.
