Welcome to the DFS Dart Board for NFL Week 16!

If you're new to Fantasy Alarm/DFS Alarm, the Dart Board is an add-on to the Playbook that I started three or four seasons ago. It came about when I was building GPP lineups and realized I needed more salary relief. As I dug through my notes to see who stood out the most among those players at a more affordable price, it hit me. When I put players in the Playbook, I am thinking primarily about cash lineup plays -- guys with a high floor who I could conceivably put into my core-group and build a lineup around. After those players, I would mix in a handful of guys who had boatloads of upside and were in soft match-ups, but I wasn’t paying as much attention to their salary as I should have. And that's where the Dart Board came into play.

Every now and then, when building lineups while using particular stacks, you need some salary relief. You need a guy who may not be minimally priced, but low enough to give you the flexibility you need to get someone like Dalvin Cook or DK Metcalf in as a flex play or something. Occasionally you may see a min-priced QB or TE in here, but more often than not, this space is reserved for running backs and wide receivers who are $5,500 and lower on FanDuel or like $5,000 or lower on Draft Kings.

Now while we call this a Dart Board, keep in mind that every player has been carefully researched. We're not up here picking players all willy-nilly, desperately hoping they hit. We're looking for the cheapest bargains possible who still have the strongest potential to give you at least a 3-5x return on what you pay.

I will say this – the Dart Board is going to be pretty light this week as we only have nine games on the main slate and a number of pay-down wideouts actually made the Playbook. Still, there may be a nugget or two to be found.

RBMichael CarterIND @ ARI Sat 8:1552005800

He's slightly out of the normal Dart Board price range but we don't want to overlook Carter in what should be a very soft match-up for him this week. His lack of production last week should help keep ownership down, but the Jaguars have allowed a whopping 17 rushing touchdowns on the year while giving up almost 113 rushing yards per game. Carter also does the pass-catching work out of the backfield which helps raise his floor a bit.

WRTyler JohnsonLA @ MIN Sun 1:0039005000

Johnson slots in as the Bucs No. 2 wide receiver and he's worked enough with Tom Brady for us to have some confidence in him this week, especially if you were looking to stack Tampa at all but not go crazy overboard on cost. He saw more than 90-percent of the snaps last week after Chris Godwin went down and racked up seven targets. That volume could even increase if the Panthers defense focuses most of its attention on stopping Gronk and Antonio Brown. UPDATE: Keep an eye on Breshad Perriman's status. Should Perriman be active, I might be less excited about using Johnson.

WRBraxton BerriosMIA @ NO Mon 8:1535005300

LATE ADD – I mentioned Berrios in the write-up for Keelan Cole and after seeing just how high everyone is on him, I wanted to make sure he is added here on the chance you are using the Lineup Generator and the “Playbook & Dart Board Only” feature. Looks like he's going to be popular enough for cash games which moves Cole into more of a GPP play for me.

WRNico CollinsLAC @ HOU Sun 1:0034005200

Collins has been gradually improving throughout the year and while Chris Conley is the veteran who most will think should see the extra targets with Brandon Cooks on the reserve/COVID list, Collins has all the skills to dominate both across the middle and the vertical game inside the end zone. The Texans are going to be playing catch-up throughout the day, so look for Collins to get a strong number of targets with the team down their best wideout.

WRIsaiah McKenzieNYG @ PHI Sun 1:0030004600

We have Sanders in the Playbook, but McKenzie could prove to be the GPP dart Gabriel Davis became last week. McKenzie plays the slot well and should fill in nicely for Cole Beasley, but he also has the speed and wherewithal to stretch the defense and break for a long touchdown as well. We've seen Josh Allen look to him in the past and given the need to mix it up against the Patriots, McKenzie could be exactly what we need.

TEJames O'ShaughnessyLA @ MIN Sun 1:0032005300

We'll have to watch if Dan Arnold is active because, if he is, we may have to pivot off O'Shaughnessy who has been a nice security blanket for Trevor Lawrence throughout the year. But Arnold is the better pass-catcher, a skill of his the Jaguars sought out when they traded for him mid-season. Keep an eye on the Jaguars' inactives Sunday morning to see. Whichever guy is starting, he gets a Jets defense that allows the seventh-most fantasy points per game and routinely gets shredded by tight ends.

HOLIDAY SPECIAL!!! Last season was a weird year for everyone as COVID ran rampant through the league and tilted the whole world off its axis. That disruption in the force obviously hindered our man Kyle Rudolph who routinely performs well during the Christmas holiday weekend. An exact science? No. But it's just something that routinely happened when he was in Minnesota and we're looking for that to extend to this week with the Giants. While everyone else is latching onto Evan Engram against the Eagles, who suck against the tight end, we're going to GPP pivot our way down Santa Claus Lane and get our cheap touchdown for the week!
